Welcome to the English Riviera
Walking Festival 2006, offering you the chance to experience some of the most
spectacular coast and countryside in the South West. There is a walk to suit
every type of rambler from a short stroll to something more energetic. You are
advised to book as spaces are limited for each walk and we can do this for you
from our guest house, when booking in with us. Refreshments and plenty of
liquids are advisable for the walks (these can be provided, for a small
charge, from ourselves). WE CAN OFFER A DROP-OFF & COLLECT
SERVICE TO ALL WALKS FOR THIS WEEK!
Listed below are the walks: MONDAY 15 MAY - A COASTLINE RAMBLE AROUND WATCOMBE & MAIDENCOMBE - WALK IS FREE OF CHARGE! Start/Finish - Watcombe car park Start time/Finish time - 10am-1pm (approx) A 4 mile (6km) circular walk led by Torbay heritage specialist John Risdon. This walk provides panoramic vistas over Babbacombe Bay and Lyme Bay.
TUESDAY 16 & THURSDAY 18 MAY - THE BEAUTIFUL BABBACOMBE DOWNS - WALK IS FREE OF CHARGE! Start/Finish - Walls Hill Car Park Start time/Finish time - 10.30am-12pm (approx) This circular route will follow a spectacular stretch of the South West Coast Path across the beautiful Babbacomebe Downs and descent to Oddicomebe Beach where a ride inthe historic Cliff Railway awaits. The walk is free of charge however a donation to the Babbacombe and St Marychurch Local History Society would be gratefully received. WEDNESDAY 17 MAY - A TORBAY/DART VALLEY TRAIL - WALK IS FREE OF CHARGE! Start/Finish - Broadsands car park, Paignton Start time/Finish time - 10am-4pm (approx) A 7 mile (11km) circular walk, accompanied by heritage specialist John Risdon incorporating a section of the newly designated John Musgrave Trail, and joining the waters of Torbay and the beautiful Dart estuary around the Greenway promontory. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * THURSDAY 18 MAY - SPRING STROLL AND BUFFET - TICKETS COST £9.50 PER PERSON! Start/Finish - Occombe Farm Cafe, Paignton Start time/Finish time - 7pm Follow the new and insightful 1.5 mile (2km) nature trail at the 150 acre Occombe Organic Farm. After which, you can sample the local food delights at the Occombe bakehouse. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * FRIDAY 19 MAY - WALKING BRUNEL'S WONDERFUL RAILWAY - WALK IS FREE OF CHARGE! Start/Finish - Seashore Centre, Goodrington, Paignton Start time/Finish time - 10am-12.30pm A 2 mile (3km) linear walk from Goodrington to Churston alongside the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway with the option of returning on the steam railway, by bus, or on foot. The route along the coastal footpath is undulating and includes a number of flights of steps.

WALK THE JOHN MUSGRAVE HERITAGE TRAIL
This 35 mile walking trail takes in a
large section of South Devon's wonderfully unique and varied landscape. There
are 4 sections of the walk that vary between 5 and 9 miles, therefore you can do
as little or as much of the walk as you choose.
SECTION 1 - Maidencombe to Cockington (approx. 11 miles) SECTION 2 - Cockington to Totnes (approx 9.1/2 miles) SECTION 3 - Totnes to Dittisham (approx 9 miles) SECTION 4 - Greenway to

MIDNIGHT MADNESS - DARTMOOR
WALK!

Take the challenge & join the 14
MILE circular night walk from Walkhampton through the southern part of the
magical Dartmoor National park. If you like adventure, a challenge or just
something a bit different then join this walk for the Fishermen's Mission
Midnight Madness Sponsored Walk. (There is a £5 entry fee per
person).
This fairly level walk starts at 9.00pm on Saturday 15th July and takes you through the southern part of Dartmoor with only the moonlight and torch light to guide your way. Experience the wilderness and the sounds of the moor at night. Depending on ability and stamina, the walk will take approximately 5-6 hours. This magical experience is led and supervised by the experts of Dartmoor, the Plymouth Team of Dartmoor Search and Rescue. There is parking at the village hall and on return from the walk, hot drinks and biscuits will be served there.
